The April 2014 LNG Industry magazine includes an article about small diameter LNG pipe and hose insulation. The article, written by Technifab’s Chris Hebb, covers the basics of heat transfer and the use of vacuum jacketing to reduce heat ingress. It also points out that until the recent release of ASTM-C1774-13 there wasn’t a standard method of testing for thermal conductivity, making accurate comparisons difficult. The article concludes with a comparison of vacuum insulation with other forms of insulation, you can read a reprint here.
